Juvederm® is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Your healthcare professional places Juvederm® injectable gel under the skin to instantly restore your skin’s volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your “smile lines” or “parentheses” (nasolabial folds – the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth).
The Juvederm® process takes only about 15 minutes and results are immediate. Plus, there is minimal recovery or downtime.
How long will Juvederm® last?
Six to twelve months, everyone metabolizes it differently.
Will there be any swelling or bruising?
You do run the risk of slight bruising from the injection; we recommend that you discontinue the use of nonprescription blood thinners for before and after the injection. There might also be some mild swelling that can last two to seven days.
Is there a possibility of an adverse reaction?
There is a less that one percent chance of an adverse reaction. Hyaluronic Acid is a substance already found in the human body which greatly reduces the risk of adverse reaction.
Is it reversible?
Yes. There is an agent that can be injected to dissolve the product.
