Tecnis® Symfony IOL

Tri-State Centers for Sight is proud to offer the new Tecnis® Symfony IOL, designed for those that are suffering from presbyopia and cataracts. The Symfony IOL stands apart from most IOL lenses because it gives patients their full range of vision back, including distant, intermediate and near. The Symfony IOL is also revolutionary because it won’t leave patients with glare or halos around lights, a common side effect of many IOLs.

How Does The Symfony IOL Work?

When an individual has cataracts, they will notice asymfony-iol gradual progression of vision loss over time. Eventually, this loss of vision necessitates cataract surgery. During this procedure, a surgeon will remove the natural lens of the eye. The lens is then replaced with an artificial lens (called an intraocular lens, or IOL). A majority of IOLs used in cataract surgery are monofocal IOLs, which are designed to correct distance vision. These monofocal lenses leave many in need of alternate vision correction, like glasses, for near-vision tasks.

When chosen, the Symfony IOL is implanted during the cataract procedure. Like similar IOLs, the Symfony IOL replaces the eye’s natural lens, significantly improving sight. The Symfony IOL does not change how cataract surgery is performed. Instead, it leads to clearer vision at a greater visual range. Most patients go through a short recovery and see more clearly almost immediately after surgery.

Why Should You Choose The Symfony IOL?

The Tecnis® Symfony IOL has many benefits as compared to traditional, monofocal IOLs. Touted as the first of its kind, Symfony:

• Is the only IOL available that provides a full-range of vision after cataract surgery, improving near, middle, and distance vision.
• Remedies presbyopia, allowing recipients the ability to focus their vision on near objects.
• Has low incidence of halos and glare, which are common side-effects of IOLs that prevent the ability to drive at night and impacts many daily tasks.
• Offers a vision correction option for those with astigmatism: the Tecnis® Symfony Toric IOL.
